The Sacrament of Holy Orders

Holy Orders is the sacrament through which the Risen Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit, continues to lead His Church through ordained ministers: bishops, priests and deacons. Every baptized person shares in the common priesthood of Christ; those who are ordained are called from among the faithful to serve it and to build up the Church (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1544–1547).
